Tottenham Court Road Station
OTB was the specialist temporary works and sprayed concrete lining designer for the scheme, which is one of London Underground's largest expansion modernisation schemes that will handle 200,000 passengers per day. We value-engineered the scheme and replaced many of the tunnels with SCL, which in the client's design were to be constructed using hand mining and timber support. We also introduced a novel method for the construction of the overbridges which was safer, cheaper and less disruptive to build.
The innovative design and methodology solutions enabled the work to be completed to the highest safety and quality standards, with no unplanned distruption to station operation. This project won the ICE Awards Civil Engineering Awards, 2013.
