Major improvements to the existing escalators at Paddington Tube Station begin this month, which will allow Costain Skanska JV (Joint Venture) to undertake the important works needed to integrate the new pedestrian link tunnel that will connect the new Crossrail station to the existing Bakerloo Line station.
OTB's design for this link significantly lessened the impact of the link tunnel works on the existing station. OTB challenged the existing design through Transport for London's Innovative Contractor Engagement phase and radically re-thought it, significantly reducing cost and risk, and dramatically improving passenger distribution along the way.
